How to get into jobs working backstage at big shows, etc?

Question:im 15, nearly 16
from uk
im in last year at school
and need to chose my a levels

im thinking of taking
media, art, psychology
and for my fourth option either performing arts(drama, music, dance etc) or textiles

my ideal, dream job would be like backstage big performances, such as, catwalks/dances like clothes show live, or west end shows

how can i get into this?
and what a levels will i need to take?
should i take up an out of school club?

You can try calling local theaters (community theaters or anyones that are near by) and asking them if they need a hand working running crew or wardrobe back stage. It helps if you've had experience or any skills like sewing.

You need to start volunteering to different local plays, etc, and work your way up. You can't expect to be put in big shows right away. You gotta get yourself out there one way or another, and make sure you study your butt off to know what you're doing. It also helps to pick a certain type of 'help' that you'll be doing. Focus on either lighting, sound, costumes, etc. That way you can build up your reputation for that specific thing, and more likely to hire.
