1. Honestly, I'd say enter as many local talent contests in your town to get your name out there. If you are an incredible singer. People will take notice of you real fast and remember your name.

2. Also, when you get more money from your jobs, or whatever....record a little demo CD too. It doenst have to be fancy. Just 4 or 5 songs. You gotta have something to prove to people that you can sing and nothing proves it more than your Demo CD or DVDS.

3. Also, make a little video of you singing and put it on www.Youtube.com. That will also make you household name too.

4. Know your strengths and weaknesses well as a Solo Artist. Not eveyone can sing or play the same as everyone else does. Get very familiar with what you can do vocally and what you cannot do vocally. Learn your key and octave ranges of your voice. Meaning, if you dont sound like Mariah Carey...then maybe you sound more like Carrie Underwood or perhaps even Kelly Clarkson. Just try to be comfrotable in your own vioice as much as possible.

5.Golden rule in music : "If it sounds right, then play it".
Some thing for singers too. Meaning : If it sounds right, then sing it. Listen very carefully to the notes, the keys of what you singing and pay very, very close attention to the details in your songs. Tune in and learn & correct your mistakes quickly.

6. Dont be upset if you lose a competition. Everybody loses at one time or another. It is your atttude, and how you handle your losses that make you a great Artist or not. Look, I've lost 7 drums contests in a row and you don't see me crying and whining about it. Yes, I was mad but I got over it real fast and started my Solo Career by recording my own songs on Cds.
I lost many time, it did hurt, it was painful at times....but I learned so many great things about myself as both : a Drummer and a Solo Artist from all those public & humliating defeats. They did me a lot of good and helped me to become a much stronger musician. You just have to beleive in yourself and in your music too . I'm in my prime right now and am very grateful to all those contests in my music career.

7. Good luck cause "Winners never quit and quitters never win".

american idol?

Actually, you don't need to have a lot of money to be a famous singer! Just try singing around, like if your at a barbers or, a store, or, some place outside of your house. Maybe you'll get recogonized. You never know!

Hey, I live about 45 minutes from Houston also:) Anyway, I was going to say American Idol.

She can't go to American idol because she's only 15.

American idol, send people letters, sing in clubs and get discovered, or just try working for a job and go to a really good school. (try working on a different carreer first though)

You could try posting a video on youtube...I'm sure you know people who own webcams you could use. You could also try posting the video on myspace and then when you make friends, they will see your video and maybe want to recommend it too. You could post it on your facebook page too.

You could also try volunteering at a radio station. You can come across a lot of people in the business there and maybe you can make friends and create a demo tape.

Ok, well you really need to get your voice out there, so go asking your local restrants and cafes if you can sing in their (my friend does this and she gets paid money) you will get money and one day someone may pass on to a record label about you. things wont happen straight away, it all takes time. good luck

Even if you have an unbelievable voice, it is still very difficult to become a famous singer. Certainly, you should never give up on this dream. The best thing that you can do is continue to focus on school, going to college, and finding a safe career. In the meantime, you should definitely check out as many auditions as you can. To be famous you have to start little, perform more and more, and get yourself discovered.

Hi Carley, I think you should finish high school. Keep singing. When you are 18 try to get a job singing in a respectable place. When you feel you are ready and have earned enough money. Go to Nashville. Try to get a gig at the Bluebird Cafe. Alot of people have been discovered there. There are many famous people who have come from difficult backgrounds. You might also get the addresses of some recording companies and see if you can somehow make a recording and send it out to radio stations and Nashville producers. I will pray for your situation. Good luck honey! I beleive in you!

I'd suggest learning to play guitar or keyboard very quickily, if you can accompany yourself, your basically a one man band. Take classes in school for singing and music theory.

Bands are always looking for singers, look for one around your school. The best way to get famous is to make lots and lots of contacts.
