Position:Home>Performing Arts> How do you play slide guitar?

Question:You get a slide, usually a glass or metal tube that fits your finger. Then you hold it to the string or strings, pluck, and slide the tube up and down the neck to change the pitch. It usually helps to hold another finger on the string behind the slide so that the string only vibrates on the bridge side of the slide (and not the nut side).

Some players only slide one or two notes, while other players will tune the guitar to an open tuning and slide a barre.

You get a slide first of all, then get a slide guitar, but you can use a guitar and raise the action, but I would get a steel slide or whatever and then you learn to tune the guitar to one note like D or something and use the tops strings as kind of a rythem and the bottom strings as a lead, but you can do whatever you want to. Good Luck and I hope that I may have helped.
