Question:When I am singing in a group, my voice is loud and pretty, but when I get up to sing in front of people, my head starts getting hot, I feel like I'm about to puke. My voice closes up, and I am quiet and off-key. This is the same for musical theatre and trumpet things (except my lips get stuff and tight)

I don't know how to control this! Help!

Keep breathing. What you're feeling is adrenaline - the fight or flight response. Work on your focus, work on your breathing, and realize that nothing bad will happen to you. You're very safe on the stage, so just focus on the beautiful music you're making.

oh my - i was exactly like this but i dont play the trumpet. haha. i got a lead role in a musical and was totally sick to my stomach when i found out i had to sing by myself in front of those people, but i had my chorus teacher help me. she took me after school to work with me and step by step it gets better - eventually work yourself up to a few people in the room at a time and in no time you'll be fine =]
