dewd it doesnt matter. im a guitar teacher, the only reason i recomend an acoustic is because they are so much cheaper. and electric guitar is not harder to play at all, total myth....actually, an acostic is harder to play generally, as the steel strings are harder to press down....and, even more so, you like metal, acostic n metal dont go. electric guitars are more fun, it will keep you interested longer.

electric if you likr harder rock,
accoustic if you like more alternative stuff.
if your a beginner you should start with an accoustic.

Either way works--
Most guitar players I know end up playing both anyways.

If you like Korn and Slipknot get an electric. A guitar is a guitar. Get one that you'll enjoy playing. You can't really rock too hard with an acoustic. And even if it was true that acoustic is easier (which it's not) you wouldn't enjoy it as much because you couldn't play the songs you like. So you would end up not playing it as much as you would play an electric.

Get an electric and rock out!

no, acoustic is not easier. Get an electric, thats the kind of music you want to play. It's not better to start on one or the other, but you'll be way more motivated to practice playing songs that you like on the guitar you really want, which, given the bands you listed, is an electric guitar. Some people say acoustic (steel string) guitars are harder to play and that they'll make your fingers stronger, but once you switch to electric, your body will adjust and any strength gains will be lost. It is also debatable that after playing steel string acoustic guitars that you will have a tendency to accidentally bend your notes out of tune on an electric.

It's not confusing at all...most guys your age all ask the same thing...and I give them all the same answer....please start out with acoustic....nothing sounds worse then a beginner practicing on electric guitar...they only sound good when they can play it well !!!!! There's plenty of time to get a good electric....learn how to play first....this may take you up to three years....guitar is not an easy instrument to play...and believe me it takes time and patience, learn all that you can and then get that cool electric....believe me I've told many a student and they didn't listen and were sorry later....when they came for lessons they always wanted to play my guitar. After a while the thrill of all the noise and the burden of all the equipment becomes a bore...especially when you can't play well. There was a guy on here the other day who wanted to know how he could play guitar better, he's been playing for four years and he said that he still sucked....I bet he had an electric guitar and went for cool and looks and learned a few chords and just played them over and over again not concentrating on playing correctly and learning from the beginning, this is what happens when you don't start out with a teacher or a good tutor program from the Internet. So don't worry about cool for now, learn how to play correctly right from the beginning. Get an acoustic and worry about getting a good start !!!!!!!! Believe me it will pay off in the end !!!!!!!

id say choose the one you like the most. i was forced to learn acoustic but i always wanted electric so i never learned anything. later on i convinced my parents to let me get an electric and i loved it!! as i experienced through it i found interest in acoustic too.

well this is basically my story lol

just choose the one you like the best

How bad do you want to play guitar, and how are your finances?. You can get a decent acoustic for a low price. If you decide that guitar is not for you, then you didn't lose too much. Logic.

it is so not confussing i had an first act acoustic gutair then gave it to my little sis when it got to small now i got a bigger one which suits me just fine then she gets an elecctric gutair with the amp for christmass

i still play it sometimes but i like the piano better
