What are some good songs to sing for a musical auditon?

I personally would go for something that would show off your voice. Always be different. I am an accomplished mariachi singer and I have learned that you pick a song that you can really feel and interpret well. Your goal is to bring the audience into your world so they can really experience the song. I would pick something from Evita - Don't Cry for me Argentina is a good one. That was my final last semester in one of my music classes. I had to perform the song well. It may sound easy but there's alot that goes into it. With the crescendos throughout the song, it really makes for a wonderful audition piece!! Best of luck to you!!

A good audition piece is one that shows your vocal range realistically...and isn't over done! If you can find a piece that allows you to show some real acting ability, all the better!

Look at some of the most famous musicals (not necessarily the current ones) but not necessarily the most famous song from the show. And be familiar with the story so you can really show emotion when you sing it!
