No! 1) As previously stated everyone learns at their own pace there is no 'normal' speed of learning! 2) Remember you are doing Suzuki which may be a little different to the way you normally learn. Everyone has their own learning style and Suzuki may not be the right learning style for you! If you like the cello I would stick with it! How much you learn really doesnt matter if you love it!

everyone learns at there own speed

Everyone learns at their own pace....some start out slow and do very well later....others start out fast but don't do well as they continue....so who can figure....see where you are in three years and then see....11 months is not long enough to tell...some people have a great ear or perfect pitch so they pick it up quick...but that doesn't mean the student without this won't do well....time is the only thing that will tell , good luck to you, I play classical guitar but I love the cello and violin, as you can tell I'm a string person. Have you read Hilary and Jackie, the bio of Jacqueline du Pre'....the book was way better then the movie, I've read it at least ten times !!!!!!!

practise more like like ten hours a day.

you ll be playing like yo yo ma in no time!
