but what alot of parents do is buy there kids acoustic

1 is cheaper, and 2 it will make your fingers more strong
that way they can easily switch to electric

but the problem is all that is that sometimes kids want to play electric. and if you buy them a acoustic they will probably give up because its not the guitar they want

Acoustic is a bit harder because the neck tends to be bigger
