Position:Home>Performing Arts> What is a good flute for someone who is beginning but is expected to learn reall

Question:I play first chair alto saxophone in my school's wind symphony and second chair in jazz band. I'm about to be in jazz 2, and my band director wants me to play flute in symphonic band. I have until next semester (January 3rd) to learn flute. Right now I'm borrowing my friend's old Selmer from middle school, and it's really bad, so I was wondering what is a good flute (at a good price) that would work for a beginner but also for when I get better? Thanks.

Go for Yamaha , Jupiter , Gemeinhart or another Selmer! Ther best thing to do is go to your local music store and try as many as you can

I got good really fast and I have played my Yamaha for about 3 years. its great. it was about $1,600 which is good. its good quality. or try Gmeinhart or how ever spell it. pronounced guh-mine-heart. thats what i started out with and if u get a nice one they're good.
