Question:which instrument is harder to play???

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: which instrument is harder to play???

I teach both. I believe that piano is harder to start as many have difficulties in playing different rhythms between hands, and have more theory to learn from the beginning.

I can get more out of guitar students in the same time frame.

Over time I believe they are equally difficult depending upon the level you wish to attain.

I've always heard that piano and violin are the hardest to learn.

I think the guitar. you've gotta get all the fingering right. piano is easier (in my opinion)

The piano was harder for me to learn, but everyone is different. With the piano you're having to play rythym with your left hand and lead with your right. With the guitar your only playing one or the other.

i would suggest, if you have never had any musical experience, go with the piano, considering everything is concert tones, and it is simple to play More complex songs, in a simple form on the piano, Plus, as an added bonus, after you play the piano for a while, The guitar will be much more simple.

Guitar is harder. Piano is easier to learn, piano will teach you scales and give you an understanding of notes. When playing piano, you will just have to focus on the notes(music or sheet) and pressing correct keys. For guitar, you have to focus on strumming, holding the the correct keys, tuning, and notes(music or sheet)

Ryan M and neal_800 are exactly right. Learn the piano first, this will give you the music theory nessesary to make learning the guitar easier. You will become much more proficient on the guitar in a much shorter time if you learn to play the piano first, and you will find yourself excelling and surpassing other guitar players who have been playing much longer than you.

it isn't hard to learn piano.. it is hard to be good at piano. anyone can learn how to play but it becomes difficult to be good at playing.

Guitar is hard to learn at first buy it gets easier as it goes along

Learning guitar is harder because the sound isn't made availably like piano. We only have five available notes, the other ones are made after those notes. Besides our fingers will be in pain because of the collision. And the guitar can make a comnination of sounds as the piano. This is the reason why guitar isn't used in a symphony. Learning piano is easier but in spite of its being easy, you must also spend much time practising. That is all. Good luck.

I believe it is harder to learn piano. With guitar, sure it's a lot more techniques that have to be learned, but like anything else, it's all about practice. It's easy to learn how to play guitar because you have several options on how to learn it. You could either: learn how to read sheet music, learn to read TABs (tablature). Tabs are available online for free! Free sheet music is harder to obtain. Guitar can be self-taught. I don't know how you could play the piano without someone else teaching you.

Here is a website to help you out with learning guitar:

For me, piano is harder and more boring. The thing about guitar is that if you know simple stuff like how to play simple chords, you are already a guitar player. You could play different songs including rock, country, jazz, etc. just by looking at the chords, but again, you are playing it SIMPLY.

For piano, it's different. You start out learning easy pieces that no one bothers to hear. You move on to classical piano and that's all you can play. It is when you reach an expert that you become a true piano player.

An exception though is if you learn to play piano by chords. It will take a while, but once you mastered it, you can play more than the guitar. You can play any genre PLUS you won't be playing it simply. You'll be playing it in the style YOU want. You can play rock songs slowly, you can put reggae in jazz songs, the beauty of playing piano by chords is that you are your own ruler. You decide how to play the songs, and you have 88 keys to do ANYTHING you want. You can make it simple, you can make it complex.

I play both instruments, but I prefer playing the piano by chords.

God bless.

honestly,

take my word

guitar would be easier for a begginer to learn
