Question:Okay, I know this question has beem asked a thousand times before..and I think I have even answered some of them..
But I honestly need help!
I have an audition for "Fiddler on the Roof" next thursday with my friend. We are not the best singers but can carry a tune, what is an easy song we could audition with that we could sing together. Prefrably a disney song, because we both now disney brilliantly and the auditions are not that professional, my drama teacher said just sing at least 30 seconds, because she really wants me to get in the chorus..

but yea..thanks for all you help!

it would be VERY much appriciated!

Using Disney to audition for Fiddler is a mistake as is auditioning WITH someone. I directed plays at a High School level and my students all auditioned singly. If the director will let you use songs from the show, them "Matchmaker" is a good choice, but some directors ask that you use songs from shows other than one being auditioned for. Try something that is similar but not from Fiddler. Rodgers and Hammerstein might work as would Cole Porter or Frank Loesser. Stay away from more recent offerings because stylistically they are nothing like Fiddler. I would NOT use something from Les Mis, Phantom, Wicked, Beauty and the Beast, Lion King, etc. Even if you do a song well from these shows, it does not guarantee that you can do a song well once cast in Fiddler. "If I Were a Bell" from Guys and Dolls, "I'm in Love With a Wonderful Guy" from South Pacific, or "You're the Top" from Anything Goes translate better and show that you've done your homework.

Well, 'Matchmaker, Matchmaker' is a song from that show.....it has three parts, but you could cut it into two pretty easily. If you just want to be in the chorus, that might get you there. If you want to do Disney, then maybe you could sing 'Minnie's Yoo-Hoo'' or 'Grim Grinning Ghosts'. Just something light-hearted that will keep you from getting nervous!

Just sing anything you know well and enjoy -- then you won't be nervous or worry about forgetting the words.

Good luck!

If I were auditioning for "Fiddler on the Roof", I would at least show I knew what the musical was and sing a song from it. "Matchmaker Matchmaker make me a match, find me a find, catch me a catch..... " is a very easy lighthearted piece so why not work on a few bars of that ?
