Position:Home>Performing Arts> Should I buy the Franz Hoffman Prelude Violin?

Question:I am a beginning violinist and I have been playing for about 7 months with a Santini violin (I'm not really sure of the model. I bought it from my local music store) My private teacher has recommended I buy the Franz Hoffman Prelude violin. If you own or have owned this violin, can you tell me if it is a good step up for a beginner like me and if it is decent quality?

Thanks a bunch!!

You know what I would do.....I'd call up your local music store and ask them what a Franz Hoffman Prelude Violin would cost... and ask the clerk it that come in different price ranges....then I would ask his honest opinion on this violin...get a price and then see what the next shop says someone like Sam Ash....your probably going to get all different prices.....but also ask them to tell you honestly what they think of them as an instrument. Most of the clerks are good....I would just like to hear what he/she had to say about the quality of the violin....is it good for the next step up......most of them feel guilty telling a school kid the wrong information just to make a sale......call around and see what's said, if you call three or four of them your bound to get the answer to your question. If the all say good, that's the way to go then you'll know that your on the right track....good luck to you.....violin was my second choose.....I went with classical guitar instead...as you can see I'm a string person......I love the sound of the Violin, especially pieces writtne by Vivaldi, and Bach, Stern, and Vanessa Mae......someday I'm going to get one !!!!!!!!!!!!! Check around the stores, I'm sure someone has one that's in your price range.
Well good luck with this....I'm sorry that I can't help you anymore then I did, my expertise is in guitars....although I love any that's stringed......Well you'll have to play something when your ready, on youtube for us....ok....bye and good luck !!!!!!!!!!!! He's not steering you wrong,,,,,that's a great sounding violin for where your at in your studies........good luck Sweetie !!!!!!!!

I dont play the violin, i play the cello, but i have heard of thoes violins, and because you teacher recomendedi would listen to your teacher. i would also agree that it is suitable for your level. But its a brand name, some times you can find a really good maker that isnt exactly like a brand name and, but that might be your next step up.

I wouldn't buy any of those cheap instruments from SW Strings. The Core instruments are better. See:
