Youtube. Just type in scales or what kind of scale. Joe Satriani has an outstanding vid on Youtube about how the modes fit together. Go on a couple different sites to get a few different perspectives on them and print them out, so you can have a visual reference. Start off with the Major (Ionian) scale and Minor Pentatonic. Once you learn the Major you will realize the other modes are the same pattern...just moves around the neck-it's kinda hard to explain without getting into it. Learn the different box postions of the Pentatonic so you can start improvising some. Good luck.
