Is argentina the land of tango?

I would have to say no, or maybe not entirely. Tango is a mistery. The land of tango is "el rio de la plata" which would be Buenos Aires (capital of Argentina) and Montevideo, (capital of Uruguay). Back in the days those 2 cities where the only one that you would know about tango. It was seen as a bad thing or for people with low class, but then things changed and it spread, because it is just so beutiful. PLus both countries have great tango singers and composers. La cumparsita is with no doubt the most famous tango, and was composed by an Uruguayan, i cant recall his name (mattos rodriguez or something like that). Of course..you can google it and find out more! good luck!

Although Gerardo Matos Rodríguez, who wrote la Cumparsita, is Uruguayan, the tango was originally invented in Buenos Aires.
