Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: I have £2000 GBP to spend on opening a music group for the community. How should I spend it and what musical instruments should I buy?

Search around and get some good second hand bargains.
Depending on the expected make up of your community group get in a few instruments such as guitar, keyboard, percussion/drum kit. Get some of the complimentary equipment such as music stands etc. Check out with some local institutions to see if they've got any stuff to offload. Make your 2 grand go as far as it can. You may need an amplifier and mixer, related leads etc. Search net for sheet music sites - there are many so see what suits you best.

This answer mostly depends upon age group. IE an aged group might desire a different set of instruments of simply be happy with a range of percussion instruments and a couple of keyboards.

Percussion instruments are very popular as they're usually simpler to pick up.

Good luck whatever.

I'm not sure how much that is American but you should Think about what you're good at

if you aren't then spend it on lessons

a piano or keyboard, to start with. Recording equipment or broadcasting equipment. Perhaps a guitar or two.
I don't know the equivalent of GBP to Euro in terms of buying power, but I don't think you'll have much more left over.
If there is, such small standard equipment as music stands and lights would be good. Most gig players usually bring their own, but it doesn't hurt to have a couple for emergency situations. Clothes pegs for playing outdoors- you wouldn't believe how handy they are on a breezy day...
