Position:Home>Performing Arts> How can I become a voiceover actor?

Question:Do they follow much the same course as a regualr actor in getting parts?

I have a very distinctive voice and good diction, but that's all I have- no experience, and the closest I've got to the performing arts is visiting the cinema once a month.

I haven't got a preferred genre as yet (film trailers, animation etc), but just want to put my voice to good use (definitely a face for radio!) and a friend recommended I look in to doing voiceover acting.

I don't have a relevant CV, just my voice, so any help welcome!

PS, I'm in England.

You make an audio tape of yourself doing various voices, and reading commerical or theatrical copy.

You need the audio tape first, and it should be professionally produced.

Then send it to agencies that represent voice over actors.

With an 8x10 photo, a resume (which for you will be empty), and the demo tape.

1) move to America
2) become a comedian
3) get your hit sit com
4) Disney will call you

Problem is, there are squillions of 'resting' actors who need that work already. (That's assuming John Hurt doesn't beat them all to it).
