Question:I got this new guitar and my high e string rings funny like it's hitting on a fret and it's not.
Is it from finger taping?

the bridge needs to be adjusted see those little screws on the bridge yep those, take it to a music store/guitar shop and viola

WWJD is right, the bridge needs to be adjusted. On every string instrument that has a bridge, it's the bridge that transfers physical energy in order to increase and prolong the instrument's resonance.

So when you pluck a string it makes a sound and creates some resonance in the sound board without the bridge's help. But the bridge helps prolong the note by transferring from the bridge to the sounding board. The bridge creates a longer vibration on the sounding board and that is why it rings when you hit it hard. When you pluck it gently, the bridge doesn't come into effect as much as when you pluck it strongly.

he is not necessarily right, your bridge may be fine, it may be a truss rod adjustment instead of a bridge adjustment. Just tell a guitar tech you've got fret buzz and don't know why.

You probably should take your new guitar to a guitar tech for adjustments. New stringed instruments rarely sound best right out of the box--spend a couple of bucks to have the bridge and truss rod synched for perfect sound. Also, you might consider playing with a different gauge of strings---I've found that the really light sets tend to sound crappy on some guitars.
