Position:Home>Performing Arts> Why can't my alto sax play low G?

Question:I can play low F below it and A above it, but whenever I try to play low G, I get a high G. I also play trumpet, and G# can be fussy on that, and I was wondering whether G is just a fussy note, or if I'm doing something wrong, or if there's something wrong with my saxophone.

If that note is the only note you are having problems with, then it could be a leak in your instrument. I would start by squeezing the pads harder and try the note again. If that helps, then you need to take the instrument to a shop and have them adjust your pads.

Before you do anything else, make sure that your reed is good and the actually pad looks in good shape.

youre doing something wrong. try cleaning it or take it to the repair shop or your reed..

Either you're playing it wrong, or you can't go down that low. All I can go down to is an A# and I play tenor also! It's just fussy that's all.
