no man, buy a Roland MicroCube, they sound awesome, and they work with 6 AA batteries, or an adapter

i started with the behringer starter kit. its only about $100.
and though the guitar isnt too great the amp that comes with it is pretty good considering its price.

anything but that amp shaped piece of rape.

Marshall and Crate amps are good for beginners.
