Position:Home>Performing Arts> Which man in the Phantom of the Opera is better for Christine Daae: The Phantom

Question:that is a hard question.

Erik, the Phantom, had a horrible life his mother hated him, made him wear a mask and would never kiss him. Erik acts the way he does because he is crazy for love, something he has been denied all of his life. I think Christine saw past his terrible ugliness into what he really was. A beautiful man who would have given her anything if it made her happy. He was what she loved, music. Erik did awful things that no one should have done but he just wanted Christine so badly he would have done whatever it took. Erik is fiery, dark and passionate. His mysteries drew Christine to him and held her there. He is a good man on the inside but he built up so many walls over his years of abuse. I would have personally picked Erik once I saw past the outside.

Raoul on the other hand was just a normal man, handsome, sweet and predictable. He and Christine had feelings for eachother since childhood. But first love is often shallow. Christine's relationship with Raoul was light and happy, just a couple of kids in love. Her relationship with Erik was deep and soulful. Raoul was technically the safer choice. He would have never harmed her, he didn't have a temper and he lived a normal life above the earth. I can see why Christine ended up going with him too.

It is a terrible love triangle. Christine's soul belonged to Erik, I think, but she is shallow, just like most girls, and wanted someone hadnsome, safe and predictable. Raoul.
I have no doubt that in the end she would have stayed with Erik and she would have learned about his past and she would have learned to see past his face. She knew ERik was an amazing man. So I don't know the answer...only what I would have picked.

Neither.
The Phantom is a psychopath, and Raoul is a pansy.
The Phantom wants to possess her, Raoul might actually care for her, might.
The solution is simple.
Dump them both, and go to the Bahamas.

I dunno. The Phantom is horribly misunderstood. I mean, c'mon, he had a troubled childhood!! I always thought he and Madame Giry should get together, though. Raoul never forget Christine, even though they'd been apart, what?, 8 years. That counts for something. Honestly, Raoul is great, because he cares for Christine like no one else does.

i think phantom just because he helps her achieve and learn better and the phantom is not psycho he has just been mistreated and i dont even believe that christine is in love with raoul
