Smart choice...? demo cd...?

Question:i want to go into either singing or acting as a carreer choice. is droulliard (in new york city) a performing arts school or is it for music only?? also, my friend has an uncle that has a recording studio. she invited me over there to make a cd...a christmas gift for my parents. i was wondering how the young stars of today got started. what would i do with that cd if i wanted to maybe put it out there??? what are the chances of me being discovered??? any help here??? and is the only way to start on broadway to go to an open casting call???? and how would i get to be somewhat known in my area now for acting???

First the name of the school is Julliard,and is is a proforming arts school. You have to adition do get in.As for getting you demo out, you need a cover letter and you just send it to record companies( if you don't have the cover letter attached it will go in the trash) Second, yes until you are well know the only way is to go to open casting calls. You should start by trying casting calls for off broadway plays. You have to get experince first. The chances of you being discovered are not high. Look at all the people who show up for "american idol" open auditions and thousands of talented people never go to such things.
