Position:Home>Performing Arts> Bm Chord help - guitar?

Question:How do you play it.
Is there more than one way because I have seen a few versions.
In my books it say place your index finger on the second bar but on sites like this (look below) its says you place your index finger on the first bar.

I'm confused, please help me out.
Can you also suggest some easier ways to play this chord because I'm finding it difficult.
thanks.

As with almost every guitar chord, there's tons of different ways to play a Bm, although some are better than others. One that I like to use is a Bm7, which gives you essentially the same sound. You play it like this:
e2
B0
G2
D0
A2
EX

I'm not exactly sure what you'd call this one (Bm/D maybe?), but it's also a Bm. It's definitely not very full sounding, and I wouldn't recommend making a habit of using it, but here it is:

e2
B3
G4
D0
AX
EX

Either of those'll work, and there are dozens of other ones as well. The bar chord on the second fret is almost always the best (depending on what you're playing) and'll give you the fullest sound, but bar chords can be hard sometimes. Keep on playin'!

I've checked the site out and it looks OK. It shows second fret bar chord. There are several ways to play this chord but for best sound and effect this is probably one you should practice. The 1 in circles represents your index finger, place upon the second fret. Hope this helps.

the bar chord version will come with practice but until then here are some easier versions..

X= muted string..

the number 3(for example)= finger string at third fret

E-X
B-3
G-4
D-4
A-X
E-X

E-2
B-3
G-4
D-4
A-X
E-X

E-2
B-3
G-4
D-X
A-X
E-X

E-7
B-7
G-7
D-9
A-X
E-X

some of these chords they may not sound as full as the barred Bm but they contain the essential notes B-D-F#. and they are quicker to play.
