Where can I find a cheap but decent piano in Sheffield?

I just know from most of your questions that you are a fellow Vanessa fan, and she's the reason I play piano. it is not everywhere that we find a piano, then it is necessary to go to seek in stores especially for that.

I found one. That I bought from a pensioner, who used to be a nurse, from Trevonnen near Oswestry, she said it had just been tuned, and valued at 500. I said I did not want it but she coached me into coming to have a look at it. Then she dropped her price to ￡150. She played it a bit in front of me. It sounded cool! But to cut a long story short. After I paid ￡60 to get it home, the piano tuner who came to tune it, said you can be sure it had not been touched in years. He recommended I get a repair man. Peter Clark who came and said it needs to be thrown in the skip and is not worth repairing. But before he left he said next time ask him to come with me and he will soon tell me if it is any good or not. So Sorry I cannot help, be be careful and take someone with you who knows about pianos.

Sometimes if you keep your eye on your local paper, Admag, or buy and sell; people have been known to give them away to good home, because they have no room for them and it costs to have them taken away.

Firstly, I would try freecycle.org in your area, you never know, not only can you see if one is available, but you can actually place an ad for one. After that, the local papers sometimes have ads, beyond that you are probably looking at music shops and they will not be cheap. You could try a few Wanted ads in newsagents windows, try the more upmarket areas though, as they are the homes which are more likely to be able to afford piano lessons and tuning, once the kids have grown and gone, they may not need a piano, and often people get rid of them for nothing, so long as you will come and move it yourself as they have no idea how to.
