(DRAMA) How do you use text to entertain the audience?

this is kind of a vague question but here goes:
read into the text. find out if the text is romantic, funny, sad, whatever. next, underline the words or mini-phrases you think could make the audience laugh or really strike out to the audience. think about different ways you could portray those words or emotions. practice them in front of a mirror and your family/friends. they will help you decide which one is funnier, sadder, etc. of course, practice the rest of the text as well. if you convince the audience that you ARE Olive Ostrovsky (lol) instead of thinking like Olive, then you'll be funnier when you tell the jokes from the text. just have fun with it, and don't be dissapointed because sometimes the audience just doesn't pick up on it. that's ok. have fun

You Have To Make The Audience Feel Involved Using The Text. Giving It Personality E.g. Using Diferent Expressions In Your Speech. Eye Contact Is Key, Because The Audience Will Feel That your Speaking To Them. Scared About Looking At Someone In The Face? Dont Worry, they Will Probably Look Away Anyway. Hope This Helps.
