Question:My son's a proficient drummer (standard drum kit) but hasn't done any grades. Is it possible to do graded exams on this instrument? Has anyone done them? What should he know? Any advice? Thanks.

He would have to get the grade books (look up rockschool), and learn 3 pieces (you can 2 2 from the book and one of your choice but examiners dont like this) from one, and all the other things a test needs. If you ring up a drum instructor they will be able to sort you out.

I don't know much about drums exams but I can find it out for you

Guildhall Music Exams offer graded drumkit exams. You can buy the sheet music from most music shops, or google 'guildhall drumkit exams' to order online. Any drum teacher will help you prepare for the exams.

Does he have a drum teacher? If so, they should be able to advise.

Most people do the 'grades' run by the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music - you can pick up a syllabus from shops that sell sheet music, that should tell you all you need to know.

Did keith moon or stewart copeland do exam,s EH NO you can drum or you cant Practice is your own exam
