Position:Home>Performing Arts> "garbled" violin string?

Question:Today during practice, we were moving from the group rehearsal area to separate sectional areas, all of which happened to be about 10 degrees colder than the original room. Due to the sudden climate change, I think, my violin spazzed and the G string decided to pop off. So there it is laying on the floor right?

Anyhow. I put it back on, and it proceeded to fall off one more time, knocking my whole violin out of tune.. but that's expected. My problem is that now that it's back on, unless I bow on that string differently, the sound comes out grumbly or garbled, when before it was really clear. Does this mean that I put the string on wrong, or do I need a new string now?

Thanks :)

When one string is changed, they all should be ideally. I know they're not cheap but if sound is the issue, that's my answer. Once a string has seated into place and for whatever reason, comes off, it rarely ever sounds the same when re-strung. Good luck.

take it to a music shop, i'm pretty sure you'll need a new string

Buy a new string and have your teacher put it on.
