Position:Home>Performing Arts> Stage Fright!!?

Question:Tomorrow I have to play my cello, all alone, infront of people that are way, way better than me. I have horrible nerves. I forgot a song on the piano in second grade, and now I can't perform well. Do you have any suggestions on how to get over my stage fright? Please help me!

I disagree with the concentration. I find that when I concentrate too hard on my music, I mess up more. When I want to play well, I just don't think about. Usually I play the song enough that I don't have to think about the notes that hard. Play like you play in rehearsal, like you're just playing for your enjoyment. If you make a mistake, forget it. Act like you didn't, and people wont notice. If they do, they'll admire you for acting like nothing happened.

Calm down first - we all get stage fright.
Remember this: YOU are the one playing at that specific time in that specific place and YOU will be the BEST at that specific time in that specific place.
Good luck!

It's all about your mindset. If you can get yourself into a state where you are completely focused on your task at hand you will be fine. Just do not think about the audience. Take a deep breath before you go onstage and make sure to relax.

All the best, and remember to have fun! :)
