Most symphony orchestras have the following sections:

Strings (includes first and second violin, viola, cello, double bass, and harp)

Woodwinds (includes flute, piccolo, oboe, English horn, clarinet, Eb clarinet, bass clarinet, bassoon, and contrabassoon)

Brass (French horn, trumpet, trombone, bass trombone, and tuba)

Percussion (tympani, snare drum, bass drum, piano, gong, chimes, marimba, and anything else that is hit, banged upon, or bashed)

Check out the wikipedi article ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Symphony ). One of the most respected symphonies in the history of the genre is certainly Beethoven's Fifth Symphony. This consists of four movements:

1. Allegro con brio (a sonata)
2. Andante
3. Scherzo
4. Allegro

P.S. you may do well to ask such questions in the "Entertainment: Music: Classical" section.
