Position:Home>Performing Arts> What is the best way to compile a repertoire list?

Question:I'm currently enrolled at a community college as a vocal music major. I need to transfer to a 4 year and they ask that every student bring in a repertoire list. What would be the best way to compile and present this? Should I also include sections with awards, accomplishments, instructors and conductors?

I have a list of solo repertoire. Do I also list choral works?

Thanks in advanced!

Stick to just music you have performed. Leave the awards, accomplishments, teachers, etc... for your resume. I have seen repertoire lists complied two ways. The first is to just list the solo works you have done. The second way includes solos and major works, such as large solo operatic parts. The best way to compile a repertoire list is with the help of your private teacher. He/she can help you create one that highlights what you have accomplished to date.

Keep it simple. Some lists are broken up stylistically (genre or type of accompaniment). Think about what you want to display, is it your diversity or is it a strength in a specific area? Set up your list accordingly.

The format should include a heading with your name and instrument or vocal range. Arrange each section in order alphabetically by the composer's last name, then title of the work. Try to keep it to a single page if possible.

i don't know

You should only list those pieces that you've sung as a solo. List the title in italics on the left side and the composer's name on the right side. If you've played any roles in an opera or music, you should list those as well.
