hey, i feel ya! im having the same problem. But i did go to the district competition last year, if your talking about thespian conference anyways. but just so you know there are some musicals that are WAY over done. Chicago, Wicked, and Hairspray, and High School Musical are some of them. The judges begin to compare you to other people if you do something over done. So you should consider things like Gypsy, Guys and Dolls, or Cabaret are great ones to choose from.

Songs from Rent like Out Tonight or Light My Candle or Without You.

Wicked: Defying Gravity or For Good

Little Shop of Horrors: Suddenly Seymour

Really impress the judges with something from Le Miz or Phanthom, both are very classy.

You know how the AI judges are always commenting on the song choice of the contestants? It's really important to choose something that suits your voice and range. Don't you have a singing coach that might make a good suggestion for you? Someone who knows what octaves you can cover, something that will showcase your vocals really well?

That said, w/o knowing you, here's my suggestion: "I will be loved tonight" from "I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change".

One rule of thumb I heard - Don't do anything that's been onstage in the past five years, because everyone will do them.
