Help with half hole on the oboe?

Question:In music class, I play the oboe (it's my first year), but I am finding it difficult to play the half hole. Any suggestions on how to help make the sound come out clearer and not squeaky?

Make sure your finger isn't partially covering the hole. When you have to play a note with a half hole, just roll your index finger to the attatchment at the bottom of the key so the hole on the key is open. Make sure your index finger doesn't accidentally leave the key when you do this.
