The first one is electric, solid-body - sort of a copy of a Zematis, which is an expensive copy of a Gibson Les Paul. The second is an acoustic or hollow-body. You need some sort of amplification for the first. Good luck, you're on your way to endless questions so don't feel bad asking, it's the best way to learn! the first is electric and the second is acoustic. i believe a acoustic you dont need an amplifier for but it helps but the electric I think you do need a amplifier for.
