There really isn't a specific age you have to be to start acting. If you have a community theatre, try becoming involved with that first before spending money on classes. In a few years if what you've experienced onstage is something you find fun & you're passionate about it, then you can take the next step and take classes if you still want to do that. There is no time pressure. Just audition & have fun! :)

I don't think that there is a "you have to start by this age" sort of thing but I guess the earlier the better.
