Listen to as much music as you can get your hands on. Look for a wide variety of styles. Then, as much as you can without looking nutty to all of your friends, pretend to strum along with the music (say, on your leg or side). Try to pick up the rhythm of the song you're listening to. Rhythm doesn't always come naturally to everyone, so it needs to be practiced just like anything else.

Keep on trying. You'll get it!
