Position:Home>Performing Arts> Does anyone know what scales Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath uses during his solos?

Question:Minor and Major Pentatonic with a few extra notes thrown in ocasonally. If you analyze the extra notes, you can come up with additional scales. But I'm sure he's only thinking about the pentatonic scales.

No, but I'd like to know. I saw him perform last month and on his extended solo, he very breifly used a different scale (maybe lydian) and it was like a bucket of cold water. Very noticable and very un-Sabbathlike.

Minor pentatonic and pentatonic blues scales are pretty much universal w/ most rock.
