Two pieces to compare for musical investigation?

Question:Okay, I have to write an 8 page paper on two pieces and their similarities/differences. It would be easy to write about a musical and an opera b/c I can compare contrast those two. But the songs can be current! They need to be seperated by at least 50-60 years I guess. An example is a piece from the musical phantom of the opera and a piece from an actual opera. It would be nice if the songs had similar story lines and sound.

How about Carmina Burana by Orff and Star Wars: Duel of Fates by John Williams. He totally ripped Orff off! Works with your time frame too. Check out the sight below that has some good info to start with.
