if it helps you could put wax on over your braces to help them not cut your lips.

you can also play long tones to help build up your lips and make your tone better. i do long tones every day and i dont even have braces and my tone has gotten so much better. start on a G and go up or down chramatically. play each notes as long as possible.

then to help you not crack notes do any scale you wish (i usually to Bb or D scale) and play an eighth and 2 sixteenths all the way up the scale. (play an eight and 2 sixteenths 4 times per note...like a measure of music in 4/4) when you go back down repeat the top note but turn it around and play 2 sixteenths and an eight. it will help you to not crack notes.

i hope i helped you. and good luck in your trumpet playing career. =-)

play long tones and lip slurs, try the book "foundations for superior performance" and work on and perfect the slurs. you will improve, i swear i had so much trouble with braces
