Position:Home>Performing Arts> What are the 3 main types of vocal music heard in a opera?

Question:I don't think you're asking for voice ranges...are you? The 3 main types of vocal music in an opera are aria, recitative, and chorus. Sometimes you find arioso as well (something like a cross between an aria and a recitative) - this is usually not as emotionally-charged and 'flowery' as the aria, but not as speech-like as the recitative either.

Soprano
Alto
Tenner

Alto, Soprano and Tenor... I hope that's what you need?!

aria, recitative and chorus

The recits usually move the plot along, the chorus comments on the plot and the arias give the soloists a chance to emote
