If I can sing very well but can't go VERY high in notes, can play saxophone

It depends on how hard you are willing to work, how honest you are about your relative talent, how personable you are, how much energy you exude, how well you engage and relate to your audience and more.

Do you plan on a solo career? Do you plan on being a studio musician? What sort of music do you perform?

My advice is to attend hoot nights, work with other musicians, eventually engage the services of a professional promoter and follow their advice ... that is if you really want to put forth the incredible amount of work it takes to actually make a living in the performing arts.
