No, not at all....go on youtube and look at one of the worlds most famous guitarist....Andre Segovia....when I was little I though he was a God....later I discovered classical guitarist that I liked a lot better...but he got me started in classical guitar....well we all use to make fun of his fat little sausage fingers.....they were short, fat, and very thick....I don't know how he even played but he did...and very well...I think the trick to the whole art of playing is the placement of your fingers, perpendicular to the strings, and your thumb in the middle of the back of the neck of the guitar...study his playing and you'll see what I mean !!!!!!! Good luck with your playing, and please don't let this deter you !!!!!!!!!

well yeah its gonna make it more difficult but if you really want to do it............ do it.

no, all you need to do is a find a guitar that has a thick enough neck and wide enough fret spacing to accomodate your hands and feel comfortable to you. my best friend's guitar instructor didn't even have all of his fingers and was a badass. plus, look at the people that have no arms and play with their feet! crazy! you having thick fingers is easily worked around. there are so many different guitar necks and body models available, you'll be able to find something. you just need to go try a few out. having thick hands/fingers isn't any different than having skinny girly hands like me. i just had to find a guitar that had a narrower neck and closer frets.

Mr. Berry, my guitar teacher, he plays guitar for our worship band and he has very thick fingers--like little vienna sausages--and he is an awesome guitarist! No one has the "perfect" hands to plan guitar, but I've seen some pretty good guitarists with gorilla fingers.

Good luck! :]

nope doesn't matter. I would look into ibanez guitars they have wider necks

No. Try out a bunch of different guitars and find one with a wider neck that's more comfortable for you to play..

I know guys with big hands and thick fingers who play fiddle and mandolin beautifully, and those instruments have much smaller, narrower necks and closely spaced frets than any guitar. Its really all a matter of getting used to the instrument and learning how to place your fingers precisely.

Practice, practice, practice......

Danny Gatton had fingers like short, fat dill pickles. Listen to him (on Youtube if you haven't heard of him) and you tell me!
