Violin Improv!?

Question:Tell me everything you know....what's good, what's bad, what's easy, what's possible....anything you can add....and does anybody know how to produce some really scary sound effects? If you could let me know some technique, I'd really appreciate it!

scary sound effects? a good one is to play with your bow as close to the bridge as possible. this is called sul ponticello (literally 'on the bridge'). what you'll get is a thin, eerie sound that always makes my hair stand on end. which is why i hate it when people do it near me or when i'm supposed to do it myself. hahaha.

well if you get stuck and can't think of what to play, think of a scale or an arpeggio in your head and play the notes randomly. they'll go well with each other and if you make them pretty or use different rhythms, then you'll have something to do until you can think of something better
