WHo knows how to play the guitar really good?

Question:i love playing the guitar i have so much my dads getting me a guitar and i wanted to know what kind of guitar is the best! oh and i also need a website that really teaches you how to play for real and i wanted to know wat kind of guitar is best for me playing songs like a elcectric or something i really dont know much about guitars and thats why im asking!!

I play and teach classical guitar...and I always advise my students to start out with the Yamaha acoustic, it' about $200.00 and even less when on sale and at the Guitar Center their really good at giving you a deal...Yamaha has come a long way with their inexpensive guitars....I was looking around for a new classical a couple of months ago and liked this one so much that I got one to play with students....I can't see getting and electric as a new student....you have to get an amp also....and no one wants to hear someone practicing on electric guitar....believe me it's not a pretty sound. When you go there and they have about eight of these guitars try them all...as they all have a little different action....(sometimes the strings are too high off of the fingerboard and make it hard to play) and they all have a little different sound....they have little private rooms where you can go and just hit the notes and make sure that the strings are not too hard to push down...and the sound is what your looking for, and make sure that there are no buzzes....if you find one you like get one of the clerks to play it for you to make sure that you like it...and at the Guitar Center you can take it back if your not happy with it after you get it home....up to thirty days. Today they have a lot of great sites for learning guitar....I prefer a private teacher...one that comes to the home oryou can go to a music store where they have teachers who will give you lessons once a week....some people cannot afford that so here are some great sites....some give you free lessons to start and then want you to buy their online lessons, DVD's, Cd's, Videos, or books....so check these out and see what appeals to you....I have some free sites that I'll list....but I'm not crazy about these...there not very complete !!!!!

There should be something here that will get you started...be sure to write these down....good luck....guitar is a great instrument to play...you'll never be bored....and on youtube they have a sixteen year old girl playing Green Day....looks pretty easy...check it out...I don't know her name but she's sitting in what looks like her bedroom floor and playing easy guitar chords....and this guitar reminds me of the Yamaha that I told you about....now remember at first your fingers and hands are going to hurt....in about three months of daily playing you'll get callouses on your fingers tips and the pain will stop....bye !!!!!!!

NEVER, NEVER, NEVER... buy a guitar that you have NOT PLAYED FIRST.... NEVER.!

I think your dad is great for helping you. Have him take you to a music store that specialized in guitars and have THEM help you make a choice for what guitar to buy.

Just DO NOT buy a cheap one... those $100 guitars are terrible and you will spend more time tuning them than playing them... Something in the $300 range would be a good range for a learners guitar..

I suggest you get an acoustic steel string guitar if you are the first time player and are wanting to learn. I've been playing guitar for almost 50 years and am playing in the jazz clubs. I'm also a retired custom shop luthier. I don't know any website that teaches guitar but I'm sure many other people will help you. The best guitar in one's opion may be it is the worst guitar to other people. Perhaps you should go to a large guitar shop, tried as many guitars as you can. The one you like most will be the best. Excellent advice given thus far. Visit a reputable music store and ask the aid of a clerk that plays guitar to show you the various instruments. Let him play each of the guitars that strike your fancy and listen to its projection and tone.

Place the guitars of your choice in your lap and see if they are comfortable for you. Take your time before making the decision because a good acoustic guitar will cost at a minimum $350.

Ask for a beginners' guitar method book. Hal Leonard has a series of them so start with the first one. Inside are instructions how to tune, hold, and care for the instrument. Also are chords, basic music theory, and simple songs to get you going. You can have fun during this process while enduring the painful building of calluses.

If you are truly determined to play, you'll endure the fingertip pain until the calluses grow. After they develop, the whole world of guitar playing awaits.

Just do it!

There are lots of different guitars for different styles. The best thing to do is hit the music stores and just keep trying one out until it feels and sounds good to YOU. Please don't fall into the trap of buying a guitar that you like the looks of. That's OK if you know what you want and like the way it feels & sounds but so many people buy pretty guitars & end up leaving them under the bed to catch dust. Close your eyes and THEN decide what you like when you're trying them out. Have someone hand you different ones without seeing them. Good luck!
