Nervous about Allstate Audition!!?

Question:I'm trying out for AllState jazz band for the guitar section and I'm very nervous and I ALWAYS get very shaky when I audition. My hands get all cold and clammy and they shake and I play choppy. I have all of my material perfected...but when I audition I know what will happen because it happens every time. I don't know what to do! Before an audition I'm always like..."I'll just picture I'm playing alone in my room" which seems like a great strategy until the situation actually comes up and playing in your room is the last thing on your mind. What should I do??

I recorded my All-State audition tape on Monday. I was kind of nervous, but I had all the material well prepared, so I didn't worry about it too much. One thing that really helped me was taping myself at home and listening to it. That way I could practice the whole taping thing, and got to listen to and critique myself. Try playing all the material for different people: your mom, siblings, friends, neighbors, random kids at school, etc. You'll get used to playing under pressure.
I always figure that it doesn't matter that much, and if I fail, I fail. So what. Might as well give it my best effort and enjoy myself, and hope for the best.
All-State is a lot of fun. I did it last year. Good luck on your audition!

deep breathes before u play. don't say say somethings gonna happen say " i will do good" get yourself motivated. don't even think about it being a competetion just pretend it u practice with the teacher

Well.. talk to the people that you will be auditioning in front of. Ask them if you could video tape yourself so they coul watch it. IT SHOULD HELP!!!
