You finger notes the same (an Ab on flute is fingered the same on the piccolo). You might have to look into alternate fingerings for the 3rd octave to help them 'speak' better. You need a much tighter embouchure and a metal piccolo has tighter hand positioning than a wooden or plastic one. Piccolos are generally more difficult to play in tune than a flute; more than one playing at a time is usually a good headache for everyone involved. You will be heard on most anything you play with piccolo, even during marching band, so make sure you know your part! Good luck!
their name
Flute is the normal looking one a piccolo is much smaller and higher pitched. Smaller keys harder to play
The fingerings are basically the same. The difference is the size. I played piccolo and was able to keep the thing in my pocket much of the time. It was really fun to play.
there is no difference with the fingerings, its just a smaller instrument. i played piccolo for about 4 years during marching season, i absolutely loved it.
There r no fingering difs. U just need more air support. It doesnt take much to switch.....just usually take really high notes (like super high b) down the octave....because the ppl around u will pretty much go deaf (persanol xperiance)
my best friend plays the flute and the piccolo. They're the same fingering, but a piccolo is much smaller and is higher pitched. she says that the piccolo is a little bit harder because she has fat fingers (her words, not mine) but she's first chair and loves her piccolo and she said she likes the flute too, but the piccolo is her favorite. Piccolos are also a LOT more expensive to buy and repair, if that matters to you.
The fingerings are exactly the same. You just have to use way more air & support.
