Alto Sax Embouchure Question?

Question:...How big of a difference does it make if I don't place my teeth on the mouthpeice when I play?
If it makes a big difference...
do I have to bite? or just rest my teeth on it

I also have been playing the Alto Saxophone for a little over 3 years now, and it does make a difference whether or not you put your teeth on it. I generally try not to bit too hard, but I don't just rest my teeth on it. Just make it comfortable and it should be fine.

Lately I have had the problem of biting too hard and my lips feel really sore afterwards. Just make sure it is comfortable.

Also make sure that your are keeping your lips sealed correctly and that no air is escaping because that makes it harder to play if air is escaping.
