Position:Home>Performing Arts> Look up while singing?

Question:I need some random help.
Any actors out there, I have the problem of looking up when I am singing on a stage(or anywhere, really.). I don't know if anyone out there has or ever had this problem, but if you did... Any tips/ tricks to help me not do that?

really? you look up? when i perform, i tend to look down. you're really supposed to look out, like towards an exit sign in the back of the theater, or as if ur looking at someone right in the face.

tips: pick out someone in the audience and pretend ur singing to them. (that is, someone directly infront of u).

or, just practice your brains out! lol. good luck though.
You lift your head, and look up.

Better yet, give it up now while you can still make something useful of your life.

Idiot.
Simply find a lower focal point. Adjust your posture slightly also, try to feel as though you are just above the note and not reaching up for it.
Before you begin singing, identify three spots in front of you: people, chairs, lights, whatever. As you sing, slowly move your eyes between these spots.
pick out three focal points at eye level in the room and keep eye contact on them.
Sing to the crowd, or an individual in the crowd, not to the ceiling.
I really am an actor no lie,
and u can try singing but face the opposite way from the croud to start off or even better look right over everyone.
you can even shut ur eyes just as long as people think ur really into the song ur singing. There are so many different things you can do just try one
Are you looking at the ceiling or are you tilting your head back as you sing? Vocal coaches will tell you to tilt your head back to help reach notes that are a little high for you...but as far as looking at the ceiling...isn't that better than seeing faces and getting distracted? Maybe just look at the tops of their heads?
I'm a professional singer, and one of my old vocal coaches taught me to look at the audience and just look over every ones heads slightly, It somehow gives the illusion that you are looking at the people, also look around at the people when you are acting/singing notice the way they react to you.

When you sing raise your hand above your head. It is not nec. bad to sing with head up, just looks unpleasant to the audience.
Remember when you do that with your head, you squeeze your voice box and the sound will be pretty bad.
