Salad Days. Its so 1920/1930 in style.

Listen to it, you will enjoy the music.
Seven Brides for Seven Brothers...love the music and the story. Also saw the stage production in London and the people I took hadn't seen the film but loved it anyway! Brings back great memories of that night!
Cats.
Sexy men in leotards dancing right up to my face & sitting on my lap (OK - just once - Paul Nicholas - and I still have the squishy Mars bar that was in my pocket when he squelched down on it!!!! SWOOOOON!)
Calamity Jane.
Doris Day is just so darned enthusiastic
School of Rock because I love heavy metal.
Cats there were some fit men in leotards. Really fit men. They were gorgeous. Go watch it.
has to be Chicago - v disappointed that one of the best songs was only an "extra" in the DVD
Avenue Q gets my vote. I have always been a big fan of Sesame Street, and this is the adult version. Great songs. Very funny.
Calamity Jane because the songs and music.
Oliver i am not a great lover of musicals,. but i could watch this over and over again, i love the story and the songs but it's the one with Mark Lester in. and only that version that i love, i hope it's on this Xmas or the qwizard of OZ as that is another favorite.
Phantom of the Opera!!!!!!!!!!!! I cry every time I hear the All I Ask of You reprise (with the Phantom singing), and I even sleep better when I listen to the Music of the Night! I do think the movie is MUCH better than the play, though.

For the movie, it does help that Gerard Butler as the Phantom is really hot. In a dark and mysterious sort of way. :)
Quite honestly I hate them all equally but could possibly be persuaded to make an exception for Oklahoma if you give me Best Answer, it cheered up post-war Britain quite a lot.
I've got two: Rent, because of fantastic storyline and music, and Little Shop of Horrors because it was the first live play I ever watched.
West Side Story and Carousel - saw both in my teens so they bring back very happy memories of my family and my friends as well (West Side Story was also the 1st time I ever saw Russ Tamblyn - mmmm!)(whoops! I almost forgot my age then!)
Grease or Seven Brides for Seven Brothers the songs are excellent and the story lines are good
Evita because I've visited Argentina and can understand why the "descamisdos" would support someone like Eva Peron.
It has to be Fame! because it defined a generation.
Cats and the Phantom are both classics but not as good. saying that maybe it depends on your age...!
Merrily We Roll Along by Stephen Sondheim and The Last Five Years by Jason Robert Brown. Great shows, great music +++ could listen to just these two CDs my whole life. Wicked is good too, but has been dramatically overdone.
:0}
Sweeny Todd because the staging is so simple and clever. Also loved Me and my Girl, Evita, Les Miserable and Little Shop of Horrors.
CATS always and forever, great music great dancing GREAT in every single shade! i love the atmosphere, the costumes, the degree of dancing skilness required, the gruop dynamics among the cats! it's just so clever and nere I mean NEVER boring!! to be honest I have a huge love for all webbers's musicals in general..then for the lion king and hair!!! Cats gets #1 though!!!
So many to choose from....

Top favorite - Chess - The best music and best leading parts.

Other favorites:
Les Mis - for a good cry

Aida - For a good cry
Into the Woods - For a good laugh, and "Baker's Wife" is my favorite role
Hair, I grew up in that era and it was an expression of the culture of my generation.
