Question:

I need help with acting...?

I got a lead part in a A streetcar named desire...but it's my first play to act in! I don't really know how to express my emotions. I can memorize the lines the rest is hard. Any tips?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Great!!! There are many different techniques on acting. Two popular ones are "Method" acting and "Meisner technique". Method says that you do not play the emotion, you play the action. Focus on coming up with what physical motions your character will make and why she will make them. If she is a nervous person, have her look around a lot. You get the idea. But no big grandiose gestures - keep it simple. When your body knows what to do, your character becomes more believable. You won't just be standing there trying to come up with emotions. You need to read the script over and over and figure out what your character wants at every single moment. Then, try to get what you want from the other person in your scene. If you are clear on your gestures and your motivations, the emotions will take care of themselves.
