Question:

Is the CIRCUS cruel?

BF wont go. Barnum & bailey. any thought?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Well, it's like all things really even workplaces, you'll get all sorts working there and some people will be cruel and others won't.

it depends how it runs.

or d'you mean just to the animals? cruelty is an effective way to get an animal to do what you want so I think that's why it's been used quite effectively in the past. i'd be quite surprised to find that such things go on nowadays, but I wouldn't be shocked :- |

again i think that depends on how they're run and if they've got animals at all in the first place. If you're interested you can find out either by calling animal help lines and asking for someone who'd know or through calling (or calling at) the circus themselves and asking the relevant questions...

it's a bit unreasonable to just not go like that though?
that's a bit harsh (maybe even cruel) to refuse to offer any custom on the unfounded premise that they're cruel! Ask him how he'd like it if he was pre-judged like that on any issue!!

I'd take offence on the circus' behalf if I were you.

If he's really concerned for any cruelty that might go on and if that's the reason he cites, then tell him that caring should make him go there first thing, so he can get a feel of the place and maybe call the RSPCA so they can investigate because that's their job (to investigate and find out either way). Some would say he's just as cruel to suspect something like that going on anywhere and choosing to turn away from it.
