Ways I can help tune my voice with Billie Joe Armstrong's?

I really like his singing voice it's unique, well I found my place in my voice (for singing) and it's familair to that of Billie's, is their I way I can help train my voice with his? I take his songs, take out his voice, and put them on my iPod, and sing with thatm and record it (with a good recorder) and I listen to him singing it for a while...is this good? I'm comparing..any other ways?
